Over four years ago, my wife had graduated dental school and we set out to do a scratch startup practice. We had a lot of bases to cover in equipping our practice to best serve our new patients. For anyone that has been through this, you know what an enormous task this can be. We, like most practices, knew that practice management software would be the backbone of our business and ended up choosing Open Dental as our solution. Being a software developer and “tech junkie,” I felt the open-architecture nature of Open Dental would be a good fit, as it allows a lot of flexibility in add-on modules.
Jump forward a year and the practice was moving along. We were keeping a relatively full schedule and steadily growing. While our practice was doing well, there were definite efficiency challenges and other pain-points our team was facing.

And while there are many solutions out there, we struggled to find one solution that did everything we wanted and did it well. So, I did what anyone with a passion for software and solving problems would do - I developed Flex as a tool to address the exact issues our practice was facing.
